This policy explains how we research, write, and legally review the educational articles published on Lawyer Directory Platform, and the standards we hold that content to before it's published.
The articles on our Site are written to help readers understand general legal topics and know what questions to ask before speaking with an attorney. They're educational in nature — they are not legal advice, and reading them does not create an attorney-client relationship with Lawyer Directory Platform or any attorney or firm listed on our Site.
Our content is drafted by writers with legal research experience, using primary sources (statutes, court opinions, and government publications) wherever possible, supplemented by secondary legal reference material. Each article lists its author.
Before publication, articles may be reviewed by a licensed attorney for legal accuracy. When an article has gone through this process, you'll see a "Legally reviewed by" credit near the top of the article, along with the date of that review. Articles without this credit have not yet gone through attorney review and should be treated accordingly — always verify anything important with a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.
Where possible, our legal reviewers are attorneys with a verified, active profile on our platform — their name in an article links directly to that public profile so you can confirm their credentials yourself. In some cases a reviewer's credentials are listed directly on the article instead of linking to a platform profile.
We aim to cite or reference the specific statute, regulation, or case law an article discusses rather than relying on general statements. Laws vary significantly by state and change over time, so our articles note when a topic is jurisdiction-specific.
Law changes. We periodically revisit published articles to check whether the legal information is still accurate, and update the "legally reviewed" date when a substantive re-review happens. An older review date is a signal to double-check the content against current law before relying on it.
If you believe something in one of our articles is inaccurate or out of date, please let us know using the contact details below. We review correction requests and update articles when a genuine inaccuracy is confirmed.
Nothing on this Site, including content that has been legally reviewed, is a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney who knows the specific facts of your situation and the law of your jurisdiction. Use our directory to find and consult an attorney for advice about your particular circumstances.
Attorneys and firms pay to be listed or to access certain features on our platform. That relationship does not influence the legal accuracy review of our educational content — paid status is never a factor in whether or how an article is written or reviewed.
